JobEmber Refund Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-22 Last updated: 2026-07-22
The short version. If JobEmber isn’t working for you, email [email protected] within 14 days of a deposit. We’ll refund the balance you haven’t used yet. Replies within 1 business day; refunds within 7 business days. Your balance doesn’t expire while your account is active. You don’t need to argue with us — there’s no “we’ll see” or “let me check with the team.” Unused balance in the 14-day window gets refunded.
This page is the trust-signal version of Section 7 of our Terms and Conditions. The Terms are the legally binding version; this page is written so you can read it before you buy without scrolling through 5,000 words of legal text. If the two ever conflict, the Terms govern — but we wrote both, and they’re meant to say the same thing.
The 14-day refund window — what’s covered
JobEmber is prepaid: you add funds to a balance, and each agent run debits its actual cost from that balance. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. You can request a refund within 14 calendar days of:
- Your first deposit into your JobEmber balance.
- Each subsequent deposit — the 14-day window runs from the date of that deposit. Changing your tier does not itself restart the clock; only a deposit does.
What you get back
We refund the unused portion of your deposited balance, pro-rated against what you’ve spent:
- Deposit $50, run agents that spend $10, and ask for a refund on day 5 → you get about $40 back.
- Deposit $10, spend $7, ask on day 12 → about $3 back.
- Your one-time $1.00 signup credit is a promotional grant, not a deposit, so it isn’t itself refundable.
Your balance is debited the moment an AI agent run begins — not when you download or send anything. This is because each run consumes upstream model-provider tokens whether or not you keep the result. We can’t refund the underlying compute cost, so spent balance can’t be refunded — unused balance can.
How to request a refund
- Email [email protected] from the email address on your JobEmber account.
- Subject line: “Refund request”.
- One sentence about why is helpful (it tells us what to fix) — but not required. We don’t ask you to justify.
That’s it. No survey to fill out. No retention call. No “are you sure?” loop.
Our SLA:
- First reply within 1 business day (Mon–Fri, Europe/Bucharest time, excluding Romanian public holidays).
- Refund processed within 7 business days of confirmation, to the original payment method.
- If your bank takes longer to post the refund, that’s between you and your bank — but we’ll send you a confirmation email with the processor reference.
Self-service refund button
For deposits inside the 14-day window with balance remaining, Plan & Billing → Danger zone has a one-click self-service refund. Eligibility is computed for you; when you’re eligible, the button refunds your unused balance to your original payment method and returns you to the Free tier. You don’t have to email us — the button does the same thing.
What is NOT covered
The 14-day refund covers most situations, but not these:
| Situation | Why not | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| All deposited balance already spent | We’ve already paid the model-provider compute cost on those runs | Email us anyway — see the goodwill section below |
| You’ve already used 4 lifetime refunds | A four-refund lifetime limit per account keeps the system fair | If you’ve had a genuinely bad run, email and explain — we read every one |
| You filed a chargeback before contacting us | A chargeback bypasses our process and costs us money — see the chargebacks section below | Cancel the chargeback with your bank, then email us |
| Your account was suspended or terminated for Terms violation | Refunds are forfeited in this case — see the Terms Section 14 | The Terms violation is the underlying issue; resolving it is the path forward |
| You’re past the 14-day window | The contractual right ends at day 14 | See the goodwill section below — we still consider exceptional cases |
| The deposit was made on a stolen / unauthorized payment method | Fraud, not refund | Contact your card issuer first, then us |
Goodwill refunds (after 14 days, or other edge cases)
After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. We are not heartless about this — the most common reasons we issue goodwill refunds:
- A confirmed billing error on our side (double-charge, currency conversion glitch, plan-tier mistake).
- A prolonged JobEmber outage that meaningfully disrupted your job search.
- A medical emergency, family emergency, or sudden change in circumstances.
- You used the Service in good faith for a job hunt, landed the job, and have unused balance left over.
The way to ask: email [email protected] with subject “Goodwill refund request” and a one-paragraph explanation. We will read it. We will not make you call us.
Chargebacks — please talk to us first
A chargeback (also called a payment dispute or bank reversal) is when you ask your bank to reverse a charge. We get it — sometimes a service won’t respond and a chargeback is the only lever you have left. JobEmber will respond.
If you file a chargeback without first emailing [email protected] and giving us 7 business days to respond:
- Your account is suspended immediately.
- Unused balance is forfeited.
- A permanent ban is placed against your email and payment method.
- We may pursue recovery of the disputed amount, the chargeback fees imposed on us, and reasonable collection costs. Chargeback fees from payment processors run $15–$40 per dispute regardless of who wins.
- The chargeback is reported to industry chargeback-prevention databases used by Stripe and other processors. This can affect your ability to use online services in the future.
The much faster path: email [email protected]. Our 1-business-day reply SLA beats your bank’s chargeback-investigation timeline (which is usually 30–90 days) every single time. If you tried that and we didn’t respond, that’s a different story — see the complaints page for escalation.
If a chargeback was filed in error (for example, your card issuer flagged a legitimate charge as suspicious without asking you), let us know at [email protected] immediately so we can document the resolution.
Your rights as an EU consumer are preserved
If you are a consumer in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional statutory rights that this policy does not — and cannot — limit:
- A statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under EU Directive 2011/83/EU (the Consumer Rights Directive). This applies to digital services like JobEmber unless you give us prior express consent at checkout to immediate performance and acknowledge the loss of withdrawal upon such performance. We ask for that consent at checkout. Until you give it, your statutory right is unchanged.
- The right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
- The right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
- For Romanian consumers specifically, the right to escalate to ANPC (Autoritatea Națională pentru Protecția Consumatorilor).
This refund policy is offered in addition to these statutory rights, not in replacement of them. Where the statutory right gives you more than the contractual policy, the statutory right wins.
Why we wrote it this way
Most subscription SaaS companies make refunds deliberately hard — buried buttons, retention calls, “are you sure” loops, fine-print disqualifications. We’ve watched what that does to a brand’s Trustpilot score. The word “scam” gets used a lot.
JobEmber sells to people who are job-hunting — often the worst week of their year. The last thing they need is to fight us for a refund. The last thing we need is for them to write a one-star review while their friends are also job-hunting.
So: 14 days, unused balance, one email, one button. If we ever change this, we’ll tell you in advance.
